Books Unbound

Sophie Danielson is a writer, book designer, and curriculum creator. She is the Founder of Books Unbound, providing contextualized educational resources for refugees. Having developed projects in southern Asia and consulted for international organizations, Sophie brings extensive experience to her work. Now based in Colorado, she designs books, writes, and creates curricula, while continuing work with resettled refugees around the US and abroad.

Picture Dictionaries: Our Picture Dictionary collection is designed as an informal learning tool, perfect for literate or illiterate learners of all ages. These spiral-bound, compact 6×9” picture dictionaries are easy to carry and include 84-94 pages of essential vocabulary and context-specific illustrations. Perfect for learning English or preserving one’s native tongue, they are versatile resources for classroom or at-home use. Available in: Afghan, Rohingya, Congolese, Mexican, and general USA. Teacher Guides: The Teacher Guide serves as a resource for teachers implementing our Picture Dictionary curriculum in respective communities. The purpose of this Guide is to help teachers by establishing a direction through our learning objectives, encouraging conversation through our suggested discussion points, and promoting peer interaction through our engaging activities.
